Exploration and indulgence are key elements of the Bloomingdale’s store in Kuwait, the second international store for the US department store.
The store was conceived as an ‘upscale arena’ that connected hospitality, retail and service that eclipsed the conventional model of a transaction-only model. Personalised service, VIP touchpoints and digital and curated elements have all been integrated into the store.
There is a separate VIP entrance with its own façade, lounge and click and collect area. The At Your Service desk features a concierge desk, lounge and fitting rooms – with three-way mirrors for guests to try on their online purchases.
Guests entering from the interior of the 360 MALL pass curated storefronts. One inside a sense of New York elegance, and Bloomingdale’s distinct visual identity, are given a high profile.
A statement ‘Takeover Tower’ connects each floor with a combination of digital and physical visual merchandising displays.
The store’s material palette features flourishes of black and white marble, along with silk carpets, metal frames, luxurious upholstery and contrasting finishes. Black and white tiles are a recurring motif, along with black framing systems.
Café concept Scene, close to the shoe department, seeks to embody the glamour of New York with a private dinner party atmosphere reminiscent of a slick apartment. Individual items of footwear are highlighted as items of décor to merge food and fashion.
