Retail Design Expo is set to experience another ground breaking year in 2017, with more exhibitors, speakers and features than ever before expected when the doors to the event open in May.
The latter part of 2016 saw heavy activity from exhibitors keen to secure their stands. “It’s fantastic to see so many companies, from so many diverse industry sectors, supporting the show. We’ve had 36 exhibitors confirm their attendance in just the last month and a half,” says Retail Design Expo event director Annie Swift.
Design and VM agencies, shopfitters, lighting brands, materials and surfaces suppliers, P-O-P developers and other retail specialists will be coming together to ensure that visitors find the widest and most comprehensive choice of companies under one roof. Recent confirmations have included companies such as ARNO, Innermost, ALU and SP Group, confirms Swift.
A host of new exhibitors will be joining exhibitors who are returning to the event after successfully taking part in 2016 and 2015. With the co-located RBTE and Retail Digital Signage Expo events, visitors will benefit from seeing more than 650 suppliers.
Exhibitors are travelling from far and wide to bring their products and services to Retail Design Expo. Polish retail fixtures specialist Concession Polska has chosen the event as its first UK show, while Chinese fixtures player Suntop Group will be attending to target European expansion plans.
Insights and strategy agency Grounded will be taking its offer to a wider audience for the first time, while companies such as Design Concrete will be returning after a good experience in previous years. Baro Lighting UK is another returning exhibitor, opting to double the size of its stand compared to the 2016 event. “We get to see people we never normally see,” says Baro managing director Rob Jerams. “It’s a good exhibition for us in that sense. We get business, and big brands get to know of us. This year we got about 120 leads over the two days, which is unprecedented.”
Other new participants in Retail Design Expo this year include SMP Group, which is marking its first appearance at the event by sponsoring the Champagne Bar and the Big Party. The group’s marketing director Sarah Davis the Bar, which SMP will design and build, will represent every element of its expertise.
A range of attractions will make visits to Retail Design Expo even more memorable. New initiatives include the VM Christmas Market, an innovative space to source materials for Christmas 2017, and the VM Christmas Awards, which will see an expert panel recognise the top displays of 2016.
The Retail Design Student Awards, sponsored by ITAB, will make a welcome return, with entrants tackling live briefs from Majestic Wine, Pret a Manger and Adidas. The scheme, supported by top design agencies as well as retailers, has built a reputation for singling out the retail design talent of the future.
