Knitwear retailer John Smedley has teamed up with poet, actor and film-maker Greta Bellamacina to develop its SS17 collection, with the collaboration reflected in windows designed by One Big Company for the brand’s Brook Street store.
Drawing inspiration from Bellamacina’s poem ‘Silent Riot: The Journey of Sea Island Cotton,’ which was written for John Smedley, the windows take a nautical theme.
In the main window a sail-shaped canvas secured with hessian ropes and carabiners is positioned behind a window vinyl displaying the poem.
A secondary window shows a fishing net containing an illuminated LED ball that represents a water droplet to create a focal point.
In-store displays continue the nautical theme at the point of sale, with Bellamacina’s image printed onto canvas displays; the same material is used for pricing swing tickets.
