The UK’s first multibrand electric vehicle showroom is to open in Milton Keynes, as part of the city’s £9m ‘Go Ultra Low’ programme, which encourages the uptake of electric vehicles. The scheme has a target of seeing 23 per cent of car sales being of electric or plug-in hybrid models by 2021.
Electric vehicle charging brand Chargemaster will be responsible for the running and management of the store for its five year duration. The showroom will be designed by the retail division of experiential agency TRO.
The showroom will seek to offer impartial advice to customer, helping them to see how electric vehicles can fit into their lifestyles.
Chargemaster CEO David Martell says, “Being part of such a high-profile and diverse project is very exciting for Chargemaster. The centre will be the first of its kind and we are sure it will pave the way for other cities to follow. We are looking forward to welcoming Milton Keynes shoppers and showing them everything that going green has to offer.”
“The new store reflects the automotive industry landscape and the dramatic increase of consumer interest in electric cars – plug in power models are appealing not just to dedicated environmentalists but a much more mainstream audience,” says TRO retail director Ben Taylor. “The project embodies several areas of TRO’s capabilities – melding our expertise in retail, automotive and digital spheres.”
The initiative will launch during spring 2017.
