A planning application has been submitted to turn a former Argos store and adjoining units, in the Dolphin Centre in Poole in Dorset, into a multiplex cinema. Empire Cinemas has signed a 25 year lease with LGIM Real Assets for the site.
The proposed complex will include four casual dining restaurants and, subject to approval, will open at the end of 2018. It is part of an 18 month improvement programme to designs be architect TP Bennett.
“We are delighted to be partnering with LGIM Real Assets and to be returning to Poole as part of The Dolphin Centre, Dorset’s largest covered shopping destination,” says Empire Cinemas chief executive officer Justin Ribbons. “With nine screens, including Empire's own large format IMPACT Screen, D-Box and an open-air, rooftop screen, we hope Empire Cinemas will further improve the area’s leisure offer and evening economy, alongside a host of new dining choices arriving to the Centre.”
“This latest investment will further shift the Centre towards a truly family-oriented offer, and bring an element of trade that will extend into the evenings, giving more reasons for residents and tourists alike to visit throughout the day,” says LGIM Real Assets senior fund manager Mark Russell.
