We Built This City (WBTC) has commissioned South London artist Olly Fathers top design a storefront for its Carnaby street branch, for the London Design Festival 2017.
His installation, called Mind of an Urban Spaceman explores the A-B journeys that create the flow of the city.
“The hustle and bustle of a city centre is exactly what this place is all about – to have my work displayed in as prominent a location as Carnaby is not only an incredible opportunity but onethat’s in the perfect setting for people to gain an immersive experience of this installation,” says Fathers.
The hand-painted 3D installation is the latest in a number of WBTC artist collaborations.
WBTC founder Alice Mayor says, “We Built This City is on a mission to support the very best of London’s creative community. With our store based in one of London’s most iconic destinations, boasting thousands of tourists every day, we’re able to offer artists a vital opportunity to showcase their talents to new international audiences.”
The installation will be on display from 16-24 September 2017.
