4th April 2018

Department store group Fortnum & Mason is to open a store and restaurant at The Royal Exchange in the City of London.

The Royal Exchange offers a range of boutique shops and restaurants, specially curated for the high earners of the Square Mile. It is owned by Oxford Properties.

The new Fortnum & Mason store will occupy a 220 sq m (2,368 sq ft) unit that will carry an edited selection of the products available at its Piccadilly flagship. Features will include a confectionery counter and fresh produce offer.

A separate restaurant will be located in the courtyard of The Royal Exchange, with space for 90 covers. Fortnum & Mason has declined to identify the designers of the new store at this stage.

Fortnum & Mason CEO Ewan Venters says: “Our arrival at The Royal Exchange brings together two iconic London institutions with a shared history in trade and commerce, and a shared passion in architectural heritage. We are driven to creating a world-class destination that brings the luxury and global charm of Fortnum’s, to the prestigious environment of The Royal Exchange.”

“The opening of Fortnum & Mason will be a memorable moment in The Royal Exchange’s storied history and will further enhance its collection of luxury shopping boutiques and dining,” says Oxford Properties director of asset management Deborah Green. “The addition of this prestigious brand will combine two of London’s prominent names in retail. Over centuries of trading both have established themselves as iconic destinations in London and together with Fortnum & Mason, The Royal Exchange will continue to be where the City converges to meet, eat and shop.”
