Visitors, speakers and exhibitors at Retail Design Expo 2017 have given the event a huge thumbs up. The show, which attracted the biggest audience in its three year history, proved to be an international gathering point for the retail design industry.
“Retail Design Expo is… amazing,” says KFC creative design manager Jade Swaby, who presented a seminar and stayed to visit exhibitors. “There are some amazing things here, I’m already feeling inspired.”
The SMP Champagne Bar proved to be one of the focal points of the event, drawing enormous crowds to the Big Party on the first day of the event. “It’s been a pleasure to be the 2017 sponsor of the Champagne Bar at Retail Design Expo. Not only did we enjoy the buzz of hosting a busy networking area but we met some great new contacts at the event too!” says SMP Group marketing director Sarah Davis.
“We’ve exhibited before but it’s been a while,” says Arno senior account manager Brian Hooker of Retail Design Expo. “With its increased popularity we decided to come back this year with some of our latest technologies, some of the increased services we are offering, and it has been very successful… this really is one of the most prestigious shows.”
Design group Quinine was a newcomer to Retail Design Expo this year, choosing to sponsor one of the design and branding theatres which was adjacent to its stand. “As it was our first experience of this world we didn’t set any hard targets because we didn’t know what to expect,” says agency found Ian Johnston. “But from every way I look at it, it is all very positive: from helping to galvanise our own team, to networking, to meeting new clients and to reminding existing clients what we do. I was amazed how powerful the theatre content was… and by how engaged audiences were.”
A number of members fro the Shop and Display Equipment Association (SDEA) attended the event, ensuring that visitors could be confident in finding the products they needed. “Retail Design Expo continues to be the leading exhibition for SDEA and our members. So far feedback has been outstanding from our members who exhibited, including some who were already quoting for projects generated from visitors to their stands during the show,” says Antony Behiels, director of the SDEA, which has exhibited at the show every year since its launch.
Another returning visitor is Momentum Instore, which took part in the inaugural Retail Design Expo and returned for the third time in 2017, with a new stand that proved popular with visitors.
“We’ve always used it as a networking [event] rather than new business, but we’ve had some interesting conversations already and it only takes one [to convert] to pay for the stand. We’ve got a new look to the stand this year - we’re trying to make it a bit easier to make people come onto the stand and have an area that’s a bit more casual. We’re hoping to meet a lot of people that we’ve set meetings up with already,” says Momentum Instore managing director Rob Gleave.
